As South Orange County School of the Arts celebrates our 13th year of arts education, this year's Showcase 2008 performance and art exhibition will be held for the second time on June 9, 2008, at the world-famous Orange County Performing Artscenter's Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa!

Showcase 2008, an Artistic Celebration, is SOCSA's end-of-the-year culmination of student achievement in performance and visual arts. More than 1,400 seats are available for this year's performance, which provides a sneak preview of tomorrow's stars in drama, dance, visual art, instrumental and voice from Dana Hills High School located in Dana Point, California.

Tickets for this amazing event range from $65.00 to $20.00. The following YouTube.com video of Cloudburst, a unique and powerful palette of beautiful choral vocals was performed by 75 gifted students of the SOCSA Dana Hills Choir. under the direction of SOCSA's award winning Artistic Director, Ray Woods, on June 4th at the Spring Choral Concert at St. Edwards Church in Dana Point. This is simply an amazing performance to see and hear in person... SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Joey Richter, SOCSA 2007 Alum, to MC Showcase 2008!

SOCSA is thrilled to welcome Joey Richter as SHOWCASE's MC! Joey Richter graduated from the SOCSA program and Dana Hills High School in 2007. As a SOCSA theater major, he appeared in many roles, including Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast (Cappies Nominee for Best Comedic Actor in Musical), Officer Lockstock in Urinetown (Cappies Award for Best Comedic Actor in a Musical and MACY Award for Comedian of the Year), and Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie (MACY for Highest Achievement). In addition, Joey was an active member in Dana Hills Student Government for three years, serving as Commissioner of Pep for two and ASB President his Senior year.

Last month, Joey and seven of his peers performed at the Kennedy Center Family Theater in Washington, D.C. Their show, Quick Comedians and Changeable Taffeta, was a scene showcase of Shakespeare's famous clowns and fools with a contemporary twist. The show was simulcast live on the Internet and is archived on the Kennedy Center Website.
